Access Program Development Resources

The Access Rowing Committee now offers its services to interested rowing organizations, boathouses, and individuals who wish to start, advance, or become involved in this new generation of rowing programming.

Pocock Access Rowing aims to be a catalyst and supporter for the creation and expansion of new rowing programs throughout our region and across the nation. Specifically, we hope to support and encourage two types of programming:

1. Programs that make available rowing opportunities that either utilize the inherent metaphors and lessons of rowing to address a larger need in a community and

2. Programs that offer rowing opportunities to people who have barriers to accessing the sport of rowing. Such barriers include lack of funds for enrollment, equipment and regatta expenses, lack of water comfort or inability to swim, lack of family understanding about the sport or support for it, transportation to boathouses, etc

Consulting Services
The Access Rowing Committee offers assistance with networking and fundraising efforts, including connection to potential resources such as volunteers and other like-minded organizations. We also offer recommendations and assistance with program visioning, scheduling and organization, curriculum development, draft contract agreements for partnering agencies, scheduling tools, curriculum resources, and population specific coach training.

The Outreach Cookbook: A Guide to Implementing and Improving Non-Traditional Rowing Programs
From visioning to budgeting, The Outreach Cookbook  is intended to provide prospective access program administrators with helpful information and tools for developing new access programs. It is intended to be used free of charge as a tool that will eliminate the need for every interested club or boathouse to “re-invent the wheel” of non-traditional rowing programming.
